Self Healing Practices for Chakra Balance

Updated: Nov 16, 2021

Ancient healing practices from various disciplines identified numerous energetic centers that feed energy/chi/prana into the physical body and out again, constantly resourcing us with light. These centers are popularly referred to as chakras. Yet they have many different names.

In Sanskrit (one of the most ancient known recorded languages), the word “chakra” means “disk” or “wheel” and refers to the energy centers in your body. And each energy center or chakra will relate to certain aspects of our human experience, our spiritual awareness and also our physical health.

Speaking on a purely physical level, these wheels or disks of spinning energy correspond to certain nerve bundles, glands and major organs. To function at their best, your chakras need to stay open and balanced.

If they get blocked or even overactive, we will experience physical, emotional or spiritual symptoms related to those energetic centers. With time, this can lead to physical

dis-eases that cause years of suffering, until the root imbalance is brought back into balance.

I was first introduced to the chakra system more than 20 years ago in conjunction with archetypes. I fell in love with this healing awareness, and into 'remembrance' at first sight. Since then I have made it my life's work to acquire the most effective tools, studying a variety of healing modalities that not only heal but also enrich life, bridging the physical with the spiritual experience of my clients. Through my own studies and experience, I have discovered that there are many more parts to us as multi-dimensional beings. We function on parallels, in different time dimensions and on different planes all at the same moment. So when I look at my clients, I am assessing their present, past, future, ancestral lineage and parallel existences all at the same time.

"So....forgive me if I seem a little weird and speak in cryptic riddle-like channelled messages at times.

I'm usually speaking to a few different versions of you".

On a practical note, here are some quick ways to bring balance to your chakra system and energy centers yourself:

Diet

A vista of medicinal herbs, plants, roots and all natural foods native to your area have their own healing powers that when combined correctly will assist with bringing balance back to your energy centers (even meat). Thing ginger for solar plexus, think cocoa for 3rd eye and heart etc.

Breathwork

Prana is life force. The fastest way to bring more of it into your body, to rejuvenate your cells and auric field, a la Wim Hof style, is through your breath. Just 3 minutes a day will do wonders.

Intention

Focusing on your energy centers daily through intention to clear and balance them is a great self maintenance technique.

Sound

Vocal toning and listening to solfeggio frequency brings a certain resonance and quality to your energy centers that facilitate a return to balance.

Visualization

Visualizing each energy center coming into balance daily (through corresponding colours) as part of a meditation practice is a simple way to maintain balance of your energetic system.

Movement

Certain yogic postures are highly beneficial for balancing and bringing alignment to your energy centers i.e. Camel Pose for the Heart and Shakti Squat for the Base and Sacral.

Seeking Help

To function at their best, your chakras need to stay open to the flow of energy and balanced (not too open and leaking energy). I see this often when there has been abuse in a client's past. Emotional, physical and sexual abuse will affect our ability to function physically, emotionally and spiritually. There is also the possibility of past life trauma that has followed them through into this realm.

Sadly the amount of significant childhood and systemic traumas that remain unprocessed in an individual is inversely proportional to their life expectancy ie. the greater the amount of unprocessed trauma experiences = the lower their life expectancy.

For such clients, there is a need for a loving, gentle and consistent approach to unraveling such traumas as there will be belief systems present that are ancestral as well as systemic for an individual. So much will be unconscious and seemingly unreachable with cognitive thought. So it takes more than a few affirmations and a positive mind-set to really shift the deep stuff.

If you feel that there is a more serious misalignment of your energy and auric field (ongoing lethargy, depression, overwhelming anxiety, constant bad luck, energy vampires, constant victimization, a lack of vitality and joy, feelings of stuckness, ongoing problems, or the inability to move forward) there may a blockage that needs to be brought back into balance.

Find a good energy worker, dietician and /or shamanic practitioner (or perhaps all of the above) to determine the best healing protocol for you.

NOTE: Do not be disheartened if you do not get results at first. Often it has taken years for the imbalance to become noticable and unbearable. So give your body (and mind) some time and patient loving care to come back to a fully enlivened and balance state.
